here’s my photography piece i did on gender. it features me, an androgynous but conventionally attractive skinny white person, in two different photos. in one photo my unnaturally dyed hair is down and i’m wearing lipstick and winged eyeliner. in the other, my hair is styled up and i’m not wearing make up anymore. gender

this is supposed to signify to everyone that im hot as both “a girl” and “a boy” because obviously long hair and makeup is girl and short hair and none is boy :) uwu

u forgot the poses, timid & aggressive r the two genders

the two genders: “chin jutting out” vs. “looking away from camera demurely”

i’m in this very odd bubble

like logically, i know i have a lot to do

but like, emotionally, i’m just.. not.. registering it??? i’m not so much calm but like.. standing in a sound proof fishbowl watching all of my obligations press their faces to the glass, yelling and knocking, and like, my homework and emails are teaming up to make a battering ram and my job is trying to tunnel under and i’m just standing here watching it all in muffled, deaf silence like “ok”

I hate when people are like “the world’s a cruel place, just get used to it.” That’s a terrible mentality! Never accept cruelty and brutality and unhappiness as the norm. The world is a cruel place, so get out there and make it a little less so.

so they’re passing laws banning hinduism from being associated with yoga… so as to not inhibit the elementary school childrens’ (and others) Christianity… Christians are so fucking insecure in America I literaltgyg  who’s going to stop you practicing your religion when YOU are deciding to practice yoga like you literally made that decision … clever way of being racist + anti-hindu like clever

it’s also an effective way to ensure that Hindus/brown folk can’t claim yoga or capitalize off its popularity, OR that communal forms of “unlicensed” yoga practice never gain much traction

Racial bias in America: from higher suspension rates in preschool, to disproportionate rates of capital punishment, to everything in between, structures of authority routinely allow anti-Black racial bias to color the “facts”, and warp the narrative. And frequently (whether unintentional or otherwise) the police and the media often work together to further criminalize innocent Black victims

2. 14-year-old Tremaine McMillian attacked and choked by police, literally while holding a puppy…because McMillian made them “feel threatened” and gave them “dehumanizing stares

This implicit racial bias does not magically stop at innocuous events like the VMAs, or in »Hollywood. So far, it doesn’t ever turn off. There are two Americas and racial bias is as ubiquitous as the air we breathe

Otherkin trolls don’t even try to be subtle though. Like the shit they do and say is so obviously troll things to do and say. Like y'all cant possibly, actually be falling that “stepping on grass is offensive to grasskin uwu” bullshit.

Like seriously fess the fuck up you all know they’re trolls and eat up the bullshit anyway because it makes you feel validated when you tell a stranger on the internet that they should either be hospitalized or kill themselves.

i wanna go in on this because i agree with this so hard and like,

anti-sjw’s will prattle on and on and on until the fucking cows come home and generalize tumblr as a single entity and say shit like “tumblr is so gullible sjw’s are so easy to fool lol they’ll get up-in-arms about everything”

but i’ve seen people from 4chan and anti-sjw’s fall for “transfats” and obvious fake blogs that are like “i identify as a squirrel don’t eat nuts that’s appropriation and offensive uwu uwu uwuwuwuwuwuwu”

who’s really gullible??? lmfao. anti-sjw’s will utilize any obvious fucking joke blog to shit on kids with coping mechanisms and piss their britches about kids “needing therapy” when a lot of us, me fuckedy included, have gone to our therapists about anything kin-related, and you know what he said to me?

“that’s a harmless coping mechanism for your trauma.”

it’s obvious!!! it’s transparent!!! anti-sjw’s only want to harass mentally ill teens with harmless coping mechanisms because they think they’re cool and trendy because of it.

damn it’s fake as fuck.

As with this post, I want to keep posting these here on Tumblr so people can see them!!!! Because it’s really fucking important, folks! I know it’s a giant fandom and I know it’s messy and it’s difficult to keep track of all of this, but it matters a lot.

Even with credit, you are taking the attention away from the original creators.

Stop reposting art and please respect artists. They deserve credit and notes. Be decent fans!

It’s a lot more complicated than just stealing credit and notes from fanartists.

Japanese fanartists run the risk of getting sued by manga publishers if their fanart (especially nsfw art but it applied to everything) end up on too many websites. The more you spread fanart, the more likely it is that some jerk is going to take it and start making money off of it, and guess who gets sued over that? The artist. We’ve all seen shirts, mugs, mousepads, etc… with Japanese fanart on them (there are people right on Tumblr who make and sell that stuff). Some fanartists are also professional manga artists themselves and they run the risk of losing their jobs if it is discovered that they draw fanart and/or doujinshi.

This is why you need to ask permission. Artists need to know WHERE their art is, and they need to know that it’s possible to get it removed if need be (which means they need contact with those who posted it).

Every time you post fanart without permission, especially on a website like this where it’s impossible to control where it goes, you dramatically increase uncontrollable visibility for the artist. And guess what? Most fanartists don’t even care about visibility or notes or ratings outside of Pixiv and other websites they CHOOSE to post on. A lot of Japanese fanartists employ passwords on their personal sites, and regularly change URLs to minimize the number of Westerners finding them. I have had an artist friend of mine delete her website entirely because she felt too many Western fans had found it, and when she eventually put it up again, she had a password on it that you had to ASK her for (so clearly notoriety was not a concern for her, seeing as maybe 20 of us had access to her site for months).

Sure, some do want popularity and notes and all that jazz, but it’s not everyone by a long shot. It’s unfair to use the “you’re stealing notes” argument because in truth it’s more more complicated than that. Most jerks who repeatedly post without permission are concerned about followers and notes, but that’s really not how it works for a lot of Japanese fanartists. Art theft is RARELY an issue in Japan, even if people might be desperate for attention like a lot of art thieves here are, because they understand that there’s a lot more at stake here than just boosting your internet ego.

If Latin America had not been pillaged by U.S. capital since its independence, millions of desperate workers would not now be coming here in such numbers to reclaim a share of that wealth; and if the United States is today the world’s richest nation, it is in part because of the sweat and blood of the copper workers of Chile, the tin miners of Bolivia, the fruit pickers of Guatemala and Honduras, the cane cutters of Cuba, the oil workers of Venezuela and Mexico, the pharmaceutical workers of Puerto Rico, the ranch hands of Costa Rica and Argentina, the West Indians who died building the Panama Canal, and the Panamanians who maintained it.
